Tibetan Singer/Songwriter Tashi D Sharzur (Techung) Receives Artist Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York State Council on The Arts (NYSCA)

A total of $623,000 has been awarded to 89 Fellows (with 15 finalists) in New York State. 2018 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowships were awarded in the categories of Fiction, Interdisciplinary Work, Painting, Video/Film, and Folk/Traditional Arts including Tashi D Sharzur aka Techung. .


A New Take on Spanish Tradition from Vigüela, New Album 24.08.2018

‘A Tiempo Real’ is the new album from the traditional Spanish folk band Vigüela. It is a double-disc of almost 100 minutes of carefully arranged traditional folk songs and is as much album as a lively preservation project. ‘A Tiempo Real’ is a cultural contribution to Spanish folk music as performed in village life in homes, festivities and celebrations in the province of Castilla-La Mancha and beyond.

New Album: Melodic Circles / Iranian Urban Classical Music from Master Musicians Mehdi & Adib Rostami

‘Melodic Circles’ is the new album written and produced by two classically trained Iranian musicians, cousins Mehdi Rostami & Adib Rostami. Both are masters of their instruments: Mehdi plays the Iranian member of the lute family, the setār while Adib accompanies on the tombak goblet drum. The roots of ‘Melodic Circles’ lie in traditional Kurdish music from the Fars Province, widely considered the cultural capital of Iran.
